Corsica – your island in the sun

Only a hundred miles south of the French Riviera, the beautiful island of Corsica is only two hours by direct flight from Gatwick and most other major airports in Britain.

Located in the north-west of the Island a few miles from the airport and the picturesque tourist resort of Calvi, this privately owned villa at Sant’ Ambroggio is furnished and equipped to the highest standard.

Situated beside a beautiful sandy beach with safe swimming, windsurfing and yachting, it is an ideal spot for a family holiday. With its row of friendly shops, restaurant and coffee shop, the little port of Sant’ Ambroggio is perfectly located for exploring the sights of Corsica’s ancient and colourful past.

Getting around

There is plenty of parking space near the villa and a car is recommended if you wish to explore the island. All major car hire firms have offices at the airports so it is easy to book ahead and have a car waiting for you when you arrive.

There is a single track railway which shuttles all day between Calvi and Ile Rousse and ventures through the mountains now and then to Bastia and Ajaccio – a bit of a bumpy ride so best take a cushion! Sant’ Ambroggio station, which is little more than a whistle-stop, is a few minutes walk away.

Climate

Corsica has a typical Mediterranean climate similar to the French Riviera. Hot during the summer months, there is usually a sea breeze to cool you down!
